DivorceCare (Adult Session)

DivorceCare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. Don’t go through separation or divorce alone.

DivorceCare seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable DivorceCare resources to help you deal with the pain of the past and look forward to rebuilding your life.

You don’t have to go through it alone.

Most people will tell you that separation and divorce are the most painful and stressful experiences they’ve ever faced. It’s a confusing time when you feel isolated and have lots of questions about issues you’ve never faced before.

DivorceCare groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each DivorceCare session has two distinct elements:

  • A Seminar with Experts: During the first 30–40 minutes of the meeting, each DivorceCare group watches a video seminar featuring top experts on divorce and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting-to-watch television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies and on-location video.
  • A Support Group with Focus: After viewing the video, DivorceCare group participants spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in the lives of group members.

These videos may be helpful introductions to the program and what you can expect:

We plan to offer our adult session twice per year, in fall and winter. Cost is $20 per adult for the three-month session. Registration is required and space is limited. Please check your schedule to make sure you are able to commit to attending these sessions.

DivorceCare (Children's Session)

DivorceCare for Kids, DC4K, provides a safe, fun place where your children will learn to understand their feelings, express their emotions appropriately, feel better about themselves, and develop coping skills.  Our weekly group combines games, crafts, activities, music, and DVD dramas to create a fun atmosphere where children feel comfortable and accepted.  DC4K provides an opportunity for kids to make friends with other kids who understand what it feels like when parents get divorced.  The group is open to children ages 5-12.

We meet at the Grant Park Church (2728 NE 34th), concurrently with DivorceCare for adults.

You can learn more about DC4K here.

There is a one-time cost of $15.00 to cover materials, but scholarships are available upon request.    If you have any questions, or to reserve a spot, please email DivorceCare@hopeportland.org so that we may send you a DC4K registration form to fill out and bring to our first session.
