Flourish

According to the philosopher Aristotle, each one of us has a purpose in life.  This purpose is to cultivate our minds and
acquire wisdom, living life fully and skillfully with joy.  To do this is to live for the purpose we were created.  To do this is to flourish. Though he lived, worked, and died more than four hundred years before Christ, Aristotle was on to something deeply Biblical.

Our Creator’s desire for us is to flourish.  We find the purpose for which we were created when we know Him.  He calls us to know Him through His Son Jesus Christ, “in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” are found (Col. 2:3).  And as we follow Christ, He calls us to work for the prosperity and flourishing of our friends and neighbors.  We want them to know Jesus Christ, and we want them to see the goodness, beauty, and truth of God’s world in all of its creativity and fullness.  Toward that end, we have initiated  Flourish.

Flourish is the name of a series of lectures, workshops, performances, seminars, and discussion groups sponsored by Hope to promote the flourishing of life in Portland.  These different events and opportunities are primarily lead by members of Hope, using their own talents, gifts, abilities, and loves out of love for Jesus and love of our neighbors.  Flourish events will cover everything from film, to cooking, to making beer.  Come. Learn something new.  Bring your friends.  And flourish!
