Pastor

Charlie Shaw

Charlie is passionate about helping people know God and share his goodness with others. As a pastor, Charlie’s primary message is that God, in all of his mysterious glory, can be known, loved, and shared in the person of Jesus Christ, who is himself God’s gift of love to the world. Charlie believes that the love of God should compel Christians to resist engaging in the culture wars of our increasingly divided society, and instead embrace the peace of the Holy Spirit as we travel the well-trodden paths of historic, Christian orthodoxy with openness, wonder, and hope.

Charlie’s vision for Hope Presbyterian is that it would grow into a safe, radically welcoming community where Portlanders of all backgrounds and identities can come explore the teaching and practices of historic, orthodox Christianity, and more importantly, experience the transformative love of God given in Jesus.

Charlie has an MABTS from Western Seminary and is ordained as a Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). He lives in Southeast Portland with his wife, Bekah, and his daughter, Maeve. Oh, and he also plays music, which you can listen to HERE.
